5 fun + unusual things to do this weekend
This weekend: Jump on a trampoline! Plant a tree! Go to the movies with your dog! For real!
FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
(Just Bounce Trampoline Club, Fri, 6 p.m., and 7 p.m., Sat, 5:30 p.m., and sometimes 7:30 p.m., Sun, 1 p.m., 3731 Chesswood Dr., 416-635-0206, call in advance, arrive 10 minutes early, waivers need to signed in advance, $20.)
Tree planting! Trees Across Toronto has a massive, two-hour tree planting blitz this Saturday. Planting materials and tools will be provided – all you need to do is show up with the fam! If you’re wondering if your kids are ready for the experience, check out their video on how to plant trees. Last year 1,500 vollies planted 2,000 trees – so these two hours make a big difference for our city.
Go to the movies with your dog! Why not? Take everyone out, including your dog, to PawsWay for a free screening of – you guessed it – Hotel for Dogs. They’re even providing free popcorn and dog treats.
(Movies for you and your dog, Sat, April 27, 12 p.m. and 2 p.m., PawsWay, 245 Queen’s Quay W., 416-360-7297, FREE.)
Or you could always go shopping. The Great Stuff Kids Sale is on this weekend, promising high-quality goods – everything you could possibly need and want – for kids ages newborn to six.
(The Great Stuff Kids Sale, Sat, April 27, 9-12 p.m., St. Clement’s Church, 70 St. Clements Ave., 416-483-6664, cash and debit only.)
There’s nature everywhere in our city – including in North York. Head over to Downsview Park for a free indoor and outdoor nature education program geared to families. Activities will be decided on based on the interest of the group, and may include bird counts, tree planting and wildlife identification.
