Here’s what to pack to turn your winter picnic into a party:

THE NECESSITIES

Before we get started on the fun stuff, there are a few basic items you should have on hand. Blankets are optional if you’re wearing snow or slush pants, but  spreading a blanket out really means a picnic. Recipes for unconventional hot beverages that are perfect for Santa Claus Parade-watching

It’s the Santa Claus Parade this weekend in a lot of cities, and in addition to bundling up and jockeying for prime Santa-viewing position, you’re going to need a few treats to keep you and yours comfortable throughout the event. The tried-and-true parade companion is, of course, a steamy thermos of hot chocolate.

Instant hot chocolate is so easy! Rip open a packet, or pour in a two scoops from the canister (or five scoops, whatever – we’re not judging), add boiling water and/or milk, throw in a few marshmallows and voilà.  It’s warm and it satisfies the ever-demanding sweet tooth.
