New Tintin Trailer Looks Pretty Great

The boy reporter gets the digital animation treatment

Steven Spielberg teaming up with Peter Jackson to bring Hergé’s hero Tintin to the big screen? Really, what could go wrong? This animated adventure story looks straight up Indiana Jones, especially with Captain Haddock firing a rocket launcher-looking thing from the sidecar of Tintin’s motorcycle during what seems to be a high speed chase. And the animation is beautiful. But despite what promises to be spectacular action sequences and an absolutely classic storyline, are the characters a little too realistic?

When Gnomeo and Juliet came in in February, Salon.com asked a Dreamworks pro what made for great animated character design. When  the interviewer said the garden gnomes were a little too human for his liking, designer Shannon Tindle responded that a good animated character, for him, “should be something that’s believable but not necessarily realistic.”
