Living Libraries

The Danish Text on this advertisement reads: "...Especially when it's not a book: Borrow a person you normally would think you would not like. We have a wide selection of unpopular stereotypes. Everything from gays to hip hoppers to immigrants. Take a walk, have a talk or dont. Just remember to give back the person within two hours".

Spearheaded at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark in 2000, The Living Library project attempts to break down stereotypes and prejudice by offering people the opportunity to have 30 minute conversations with people with whom they wouldn’t normally interact. The idea is taking off, with scores of “branches” all over Europe, The USA and Canada.
