This Sunday: Make Pumpkin-Gingerbread Pancakes and Read Classic Calvin and Hobbes

Your Sunday Morning plan:

Sweet Potato Chronicles features recipes that even the avowed non-cooks at Bunch HQ want to make. The pumpkin-gingerbread pancakes are no exception.

You’ll need:

  • 2 cups whole wheat pas­try flour
  • 3 table­spoons brown sugar
  • 2 tea­spoons bak­ing pow­der
  • 1 tea­spoon bak­ing soda
  • 1 tea­spoon ground cin­na­mon
  • 1 tea­spoon ground gin­ger
  • 1/4 tea­spoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups 1% milk
  • 1 cup pump­kin puree
  • 1 egg
  • 2 table­spoons vine­gar
  • 2 table­spoons sun­flower oil

Mix all the wet ingredients together first, then mix the dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Stir the dry mix into the wet mix. For each pancake, pour 1/4 cup of batter onto a lightly buttered pan over medium heat.

Mommy Poppins has brought our attention to the fact that there is a ROALD DAHL cookbook. Two in fact! And in true Dahl-style, he titled them Revolting Recipes. There are other interesting looking cookbooks in this post, but the potentially holding the key to George’s Marvelous Medicine, some Wonka-inspired treat or maybe even Bean’s cider that the Fantastic Mr. Fox was so keen to get his paws on.  One Bunchland staffer fondly remembers no-cook recipes from the Care Bears Party Cookbook and wonders how those recipes would hold up today.
