What we’re reading today:

1. After two miscarriages, a woman thinks back to the Spanish fortune teller who told her she’d have a daughter.

2. Speaking of having a girl, we have more of them when times are tough.

3. Are you ever naked around your kids? At what point do you have to cover up?

4. Moms — do you feel like politicians ever listen to you and your concerns? Looks like maybe they’ll start doing just that.

3. Speaking of working moms, whoever thought they’d be cheering for a Fox News anchor? Megyn Kelly took some flack from radio show host Mike Gallagher when he called her measly three months of paid maternity leave “a racket.” Her response: “What a moronic thing to say.” Indeed!

4. Parents don’t want to have spoiled kids, but they feel guilty about saying “no” to their kids during the holidays. So, Mom, how about getting me that pet baby sloth?

5. Ahh! We’re totally worried 8-year-old Evan Doherty is going to fall and break something, but he’s just SO awesome.

A place to practice your 360s, 5-0s and Ollies

Bunch reader David passed along this gem of a skatepark he found in Mississauga. When his son Quincy expressed an interest in skateboarding, David taught him whatever he could remember from his own skateboarding youth and got himself a longboard so they could practice together.

Looking for a little more instruction, David found CBMK Skatepark in Mississauga. They like it because it’s not about turning kids into pro skateboarders, but rather creating an awesome learning environment. (Although some kids who grew up at the park have turned pro or done very well as amateurs.) David says that he found it to be considerably less commercial than other parks in Greater Toronto. “Its small and very supportive of new skaters and the owner Brett is amazing,” He told us.
