Playground Moms, Picking Up Single Parents at the Park and the Terrifying Realities of Kids’ Teeth

What the cool parents are reading today:

1. Would you let your kids call you by your first name rather than Mom or Dad? Marinka’s kids call her Marinka and she’s OK with that.

2. As if our children aren’t monstrous enough! (Kidding, kidding, totally kidding) But really, take a look at the mouth of a child. Teeth!

3. Sixteen types of people (ENTP and so on), but 11 types of playground moms. We think we’re some mix of types 3, 4 and 5 (Coffee-in-hand, cellphone, photo-taking).

4. Speaking of parents at the playground, single parents, here’s how not to pick up other single parents at the park. Spoiler: No one ever sighs over anyone else’s monkey bar abilities.

2. On TLC’s Family Matters blog, Julie Douglas wonders what privacy will mean for our children and if privacy on the internet even exists or is it just an illusion?

3. A recent study shows that boys are more confident than girls are about expressing their views in class.

News Round-Up April 7: Tina Fey is Pregnant and How to Name Your Future President Baby

What we’re reading today:

1. We kinda saw this coming: Tina Fey wrote that making the decision to have another baby would put 30 Rock on haitus; Alec Baldwin announced that next year might be 30 Rock‘s last. (Or maybe not. Or maybe he was just backpedaling before Fey made her own annoucement) Tina Fey is pregnant.

2. Just watch this and be amazed: New reality show, Pregnant in Heels, has a maternity clothes designer assemble a whole think tank for an uber-rich couple trying to come up with a name for their baby-to-be. They want something that sounds powerful and presidential. Via Jezebel
