Sakura Bana (Cherry Blossoms) for Japan

Beth Blenz-Clucas blogs about music for kids that grownups will love too

Along with the rest of the world, I’m thinking a lot about Japan today. Not long ago, we traveled to Japan for the first time, and I was entirely impressed with the exquisite culture and amazing history of the place. Japan’s economy may be at a standstill, but everything there seems smart, safe and well-run. In what other megalopolis the world can you find civility so refined that the taxi drivers wear white gloves, the police ride around on bicycles without firearms, and health care is readily available and cheap? I saw this and a lot more to impress me in Tokyo and other towns. Watch the spirit of the Japanese people now as they deal with damage done by earthquake-tsunami, and you’ll gain respect for this densely populated island nation too.
