Yesterday we gave you our list of the 7 best Halloween movies for families, rated for scariness by our in-house film critic, 5-year-old Sam.  A number of you sounded off in the comments to let us know we had left a few choice movies off our list. And now we have esteemed film critic Richard Crouse weighing in.

1. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966)

“This is a family classic, a story that hasn’t aged at all since it was first seen on television in 1966.”

2. Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005)

“Funny and colourful, this is one asks the question, Who will protect the enormous vegetables from the gigantic Were-Rabbit during Lady Tottington’s family’s 517th annual Giant Vegetable Fete? Wallace and Gromit is the delightful answer.”

The 7 Best Halloween Movies, Rated for Scariness

We rate scary movies for their scary levels of scariness

By now, we’re guessing most of you are in a Halloween-y mood. You’ve got a jack-o’-lantern sitting on your porch and a costume in the works. Time to make up a batch of something pumpkin-y and cozy up with a blanket and a stack of scary movies. Here are the titles you should grab at the video store before they’re all rented out. For your convenience, we’ve included a rating system for scariness courtesy of Sam, kid movie critic, who is home sick today. Disclaimer: Sam is very difficult to scare and yawned his way through almost all of these “terrifying” clips. However, he notes that he is afraid of Dobby from Harry Potter.
