We got back from Costa Rica last night. One week of concentrated sun, blue sky, horses grazing around, fresh pineapple juice, ocean waves and lots of fun. It was our first real vacation with Cedar. I would say the experiment went well, other than his teething, which is now entering its tenth week of torture. But hey, teething in Costa Rica is better than teething in Toronto.
We didn’t take a highchair with us figuring that most places would have one for us to use. They didn’t. Let’s just say that mealtimes were a comedy of errors, ending with two disgruntled parents covered in food and still hungry. I am so picky. I know this. I admit it. My husband calls me a yuppie. I tell him I just know what I like.
So here’s what I like, and absolutely do not like, in a salad. You may think it’s odd to see a salad recipe in the middle of January, but people, have you been outside lately? Global warming is doing wonders for Toronto! Don’t know if you happened to come across that “Women laughing alone with salad” meme on The Hairpin that went around this week? We died a little. We guess the rationale behind all these stock photos is to show how great it is to eat healthy? That you wouldn’t be having nearly as great a time if your fork was plunging into a plate of poutine instead? And these pictures leave so many questions unanswered: Is there someone you’re eating with? Is he/she also eating salad? Are those greens all organic? And most importantly, what the heck is so funny??
Next, obviously, comes “Men laughing alone with fruit salad.”
