Meet Bjug Borgundvaag, an ER doctor at Mt. Sinai, father to three daughters and an avid sailor
At eight, Dr. Borgundvaag taught himself how to sail, but only bought his own boat when his daughters were ten, eight and six. As an ER doctor, Dr. Borgundvaag works many evenings and weekends, and couldn’t justify spending lots of time on the water if it meant more time away from his kids. And so he brought his daughters on board, making sailing a family activity. It’s a nice change from hours clicked away in front of computer screens, and years of sailing together have built better father-daughter relationships because you can really talk when you’re out on a boat and out of cell phone range.
