Classic works from the woman who brought us The Railway Children

The Toronto production of The Railway Children recently arrived in town, and it reminded us how great Edith’s books are. Edith Nesbit has written and collaborated on over 60 books from 1885 until her death in 1924, although she is most famous for her children’s books. Despite being incredibly popular in England, she never quite gained the same fame here as say, L.M. Montgomery. She has been compared to Lewis Carroll for her ability to craft magical worlds as viewed by realistic children. She has also inspired the likes of C.S. Lewis and J.K. Rowling. Nesbit makes for some great first chapter book reading. At Bunch we wanted to provide a collection of our favourite Nesbit books to ignite the imagination of the readers in your house:
