We stumbled upon this while doing research for the upcoming Bunch Family Salon and had to share it with you: Beneath the Moon II is a participatory art installation for kids, commissioned by the Pompidou Centre in Paris and created by the sculptor Miquel Navarro. Kids are asked a series of questions about how they feel about their own city. They are then given 500 metal objects (cubes, cylinders and pyramids of various sizes) to be used to construct the city of their dreams, working together and following simple rules that shape the city’s form. The completed city is left for the next group of kids to discover and then clear away to build the city anew. Beneath the Moon II is a touring installation. So ask the museum or art gallery in your hometown to give Vincent Poussou at the Pompidou a call and your kids could be building cities, too. Or if you live in Toronto, come on out to Bunch Family Salon on March 29,where we will be building a dream city of our own.
