Dare to Draw

Three More Sleeps Until Dare to Draw!

Do you Dare to turn the tide of AIDS in Africa?

OK Darers, our Dare to Draw campaign officially kicks off on Monday, Jan. 16, but we’re so thrilled that so many of you have already shown some interest in helping out! The Dare to Draw Facebook page is filling up with all kinds of supportive messages and we couldn’t be more thankful for our awesome readers.

Have you downloaded the pledge? Or, like Hannah above, you could create your own pledge, just so long as it’s a promise to create 30 drawings in 30 days and help us raise money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

Next steps: We suppose you and your kids want to know what they’re be drawing! It just so happens we’ve made a handy little chart so parents and kids can keep track of the drawings day to day.

We Love: Thursday, December 23

What we’re reading on the blogs today:

We’re big fans of the work Unicef does. So when they told us about their Portable North Pole app that enables you to send video messages from Santa to family and friends (A last-minute threat for good behaviour or else?) we were all over it. Videos are free to send, but if you want to download a copy of the video, a portion of your purchase goes to Unicef. They also do Gifts of Magic — send items like school pencils, mosquito nets and water purification tablets to kids in need. Send these gifts on behalf of loved ones, or maybe have your young ones pick out some items they would like to send.

Here’s what we’re reading today:

Her Bad Mother gives you some options while her site undergoes virtual renovation. The renovations would go faster but by her own admission, Catherine is “about as technically skilled as a drunk Luddite.” *chuckle*

The Toronto Star’s parentcentral.ca reports on the upcoming closure of the Dovercourt Child Care Centre in the city’s west end. It was going to be closed anyway due to all-day kindergarten, but the date’s been moved up with renovations scheduled for the new year. What would you do if you lost your daycare?

Popped Culture doesn’t have a whole lot to read, but do we ever enjoy the stuff Jeremy digs up. Today’s pop art features an alternate universe Mickey, Donald and Goofy where the Magic Kingdom isn’t all that magic. Donald Duck in overalls is so good!
