OK Darers, our Dare to Draw campaign officially kicks off on Monday, Jan. 16, but we’re so thrilled that so many of you have already shown some interest in helping out! The Dare to Draw Facebook page is filling up with all kinds of supportive messages and we couldn’t be more thankful for our awesome readers.
Have you downloaded the pledge? Or, like Hannah above, you could create your own pledge, just so long as it’s a promise to create 30 drawings in 30 days and help us raise money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
Next steps: We suppose you and your kids want to know what they’re be drawing! It just so happens we’ve made a handy little chart so parents and kids can keep track of the drawings day to day.
We’re big fans of the work Unicef does. So when they told us about their Portable North Pole app that enables you to send video messages from Santa to family and friends (A last-minute threat for good behaviour or else?) we were all over it. Videos are free to send, but if you want to download a copy of the video, a portion of your purchase goes to Unicef. They also do Gifts of Magic — send items like school pencils, mosquito nets and water purification tablets to kids in need. The Toronto Star’s parentcentral.ca reports on the upcoming closure of the Dovercourt Child Care Centre in the city’s west end. It was going to be closed anyway due to all-day kindergarten, but the date’s been moved up with renovations scheduled for the new year. What would you do if you lost your daycare?
