Did any of you catch the Backstreet Boys/NKOTB performance on the American Music Awards last night? While we personally couldn’t care less about BSB (by the late ’90s we had moved on to terrible, terrible rap metal, thank you very much), we felt a wave of fuzzy, warm nostalgia wash over us at the above video’s 2:40 mark. New Kids on the Block, the group that served as our introduction to pop music (and cute older boys), are back.
The topic of NKOTB has inspired lively discussion of shared memories at Bunchland HQ. We all owned Hangin’ Tough on cassette tape, watched the animated series on TV and owned at least one New Kids doll. There have been a few bitter disputes over the “best” New Kid (the answer is obviously Jonathan, duh).
