Good photos of real, live beatniks are hard to find, which is why we’ve used this clip of The Simpsons in Spanish. As you may recall, Ned Flanders’ parents were beatniks who “didn’t believe in rules, man.” You too can go as a bongo-playing, goatee-sporting beatnik this Halloween. Carry around something by Ginsberg for extra effect.
You will need:
A fake stick-on goatee (or draw one on with black or brown face paint)
A black turtleneck
Bongos (can be made out of coffee cans)
Sunglasses
A black beret
Beads
