News Round-Up September 13: Babies Bring Dad’s Testosterone Down A Notch, School Fundraisers and the Science of Naps

What we’re reading today:

1. One group says schools need to do away with fundraising. While some schools raise tens of thousands of dollars, others pull in two-figure amounts. The schools where parents can’t afford pizza days and $300 donations miss out on the fieldtrips, athletic equipment and other bonuses associated with going to a wealthy school.

2. Does your kid need to nap? When and for how long? Researchers have been looking into the complication study of naps. When they’re really little, being awake is so exhausting they need to rest every so often. That sounds good.

3. Babies lower dads’ testosterone. Caring for a baby is hard! So Nature figured she’d soften those male edges to make them loyal and caring and great partners for raising kids.
