Capturing summer sparkler fun.
As the unofficial start of summer, Victoria Day (or May 2-4 weekend, as it’s commonly known) is the perfect time to enjoy backyard BBQs that stretch late into the evening and finish with a burst of fireworks. But fireworks can be kinda dangerous. And in urban neighbourhoods, it’s entirely possible you could hit your neighbour’s house with a roman candle. Here at Bunch we opt for interactive and completely awesome sparklers.
Whether you choose to write your name, make a heart, or just scribble, capturing the motion of the sparklers at night doesn’t have to be super hard or require much equipment at all. It also looks really, really cool.
You’ll need:
- Tripod or flat surface to keep your camera steady
- Camera with long exposure setting (be it a manual SLR or a camera with an automatic “night” setting)
- Package of sparklers
