Kid tracks grownups will love, grown-up tracks kids will love
A lot of children’s music can look and sound boringly the same. One look at Trinidad-born artist Asheba and you know you’re going to hear something different. Asheba’s kind heart and calypso soul shine through in all of his songs, whether they be about Little Anancy the spider, the keskidee bird or “Yummy Yucca Pie.” At his live shows, kids are mesmerized by his warm smile and flying dreadlocks. Though he lives and works in California now, all of his music is infused with his balmy island roots.
Check out Asheba’s take on the classic children’s rhyme “No More Monkeys” (featured on one of Putumayo Kids’ compilations). If this song doesn’t get the whole family up and pogoing around the room (if not the bed), then nothing will.
