Love These 6 Books on Love

Our Valentine’s Day Bunchbrary

1. Love You Forever by Robert Munsch (1986)

Munsch takes a break from his usually frantic and zany stories for this totally sweet story that follows a mom and her boy from infancy through to adulthood. Amazingly, the mom still loves her kid through his terrible twos and even through his terrible teens.

2. Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney (2008)

Little Nutbrown Hare loves Big Nutbrown Hare a ton. Coming up with one example after another to quantify his love (“I love you as high as I can hop!”), Little Nutbrown Hare’s dad always comes up something bigger. Regardless of who wins, the Nutbrown Hare family has a lot of love.

3. Henry in Love by Peter McCarty (2010)

News Round-Up February 3

What we’re reading today:

How do you show someone you love them? “I draw them a picture.” Five-year-olds talking about love is too good!

And this kid is all right. Zach Wahls is a 19-year-old University of Iowa student who obviously turned out super A-OK being raised by lesbian moms. Listen to him speak about the strength of family:

Anyone have any nightmare stories about getting their kids into a particular school? Full-time working mother Allison Weeks in Staten Island figured she’d be all low-key about registering her toddler for the local YMCA preschool program… and then she found herself trekking out in a snow storm at 4:30 a.m. Via New York Times

Besides preschool, other things that are way more complicated than they need to be: babysitters. This L.A. Times article says people hoard the good babysitters, leaving their friends and neighbours to skim Criagslist or buy a subscription to a babysitter matchmaker. Does difficulty in finding a sitter mean you have fewer date nights?
