Summertime story-time goes stateside!
It might be summer vacation instead of summer holidays, and next year, the kids might have finished third grade, not grade three, but our friends south of the border aren’t that different. They still know how to live, love, laugh and read, and so now, we’re taking last week’s Bunchbrary continent-wide! We’ve polled some of our favourite children’s bookstores in the States, and present you with their summer story suggestions.
Here’s what Peter, from Books of Wonder in New York City, has to say:
1. Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey (1948)
“It’s about a girl out picking blueberries and a bear comes along. There’s just something about summer, blueberries and bears that just goes together; you couldn’t read about blueberries in the winter. It’s a great classic from Robert McCloskey who is probably best known for Make Way for Ducklings.”
