Do You Know Marcel the Shell With Shoes On?

He’s very tiny and very special

Marcel the Shell handglides on Doritos, sleeps on a slice of bread and pulls around a piece of lint as his pet. Jenny Slate and Dean Fleischer-Camp first introduced the world to Marcel the Shell with Shoes On last October. Thirteen million Youtube views, one video sequel, iTunes app and kids’ book later, Marcel the Shell is a pretty big deal, which is quite impressive considering he gets winded just walking across a desk.

Do your kids know Marcel? Do they know he has a book now? We like how resourceful Marcel is: if you’re not big enough for something, find an alternative. And as much as Slate and Fleischer never set out to create a kids’ character, since Marcel lives in the real world, he’s pretty darn easy to recreate. Any kid with a shell, a googly eye and a pair of Barbie shoes can make their own Marcel and create their own tiny adventures for him.
