5 Movies That Let You See Europe

Travel the Continent without leaving the couch!

It’s grey and raining here at Bunch HQ and we’d much rather be somewhere sunny. We might not have the time to country-hop until we find perfect summer weather, but it’s easy enough to pop down to the local video store (or log onto Netflix) and travel the world through our screens. This week’s Bunchbrary takes us on a whirlwind tour of Europe.

1. Mary Poppins (1964)

It’s an eight-hour flight from Bunch HQ to England, but magical Mary Poppins speeds up the trip and doesn’t make us go through airport security. Mary’s arrival at the Banks’ home as their new nanny turns the entire family’s world around, and her “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” songs bring us to Edwardian London in a heartbeat.

2. Ratatouille (2007)

5 Movies for a Snowy Day

Andrew J Parker of the Toronto Underground Cinema’s Bunchbrary:

Now that the “most wonderful time of the year” has passed us by, we’re left with what many to believe is one of the worst seasons of the year. The cold of winter might be reason enough to stay inside, but seeing snow is enough to make anyone think twice about going anywhere and hunkering down in front of the television with a good movie. Assuming that you aren’t already sick of the stuff and prefer seeing snow on television rather than outside your window, here are my top 5 snow related movies and/or scenes to watch with the family, some hot chocolate and a whole lot of marshmallows.

1. The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
