Last year we found five awesome recipes to try and even ended up making a couple at home! Sweet potato and apple is a real winner, friends.
So, who’s eating latkes tonight? Care to share some family traditions? How many onions are you able to grate before you need to take a break? We’re pretty tough, so we’re gonna say… two. And what’s the superior apple sauce: sour cream: latke ratio? Being huge sour cream fans, we’re going to say 1: 3: 3… is that terrible? Fine. 1: 2: 3 but we’re not going any lower.
Pretty great! But no match for last year’s “Candlelight”… we won’t blame you for playing the Maccabeats non-stop for the next eight days/months. We were also delighted to find “The Book of Good Life” although we suspect it’s for Rosh Hashanah.
A few spins on traditional Hanukkah treats you can gift, eat, or rock a cookie swap with
Hanukkah Sugar cookies
These sugar cookies can be decorated like dreidels, menorahs, or Stars of David. Kids can help by piping decorating gel or applying sprinkles.
To achieve the same effect in a fraction of the time: Roll out a 1/4 inch thick sheet of thawed puff pastry and use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Brush with a lightly beaten egg, and sprinkle with course sugar. Bake according to puff pastry directions. This treat can sand on its own, but also makes a fun topper for ice cream or a cupcake!
