Check out some guerrilla art in your city

Famous and mysterious graffiti artist Banksy is up for an Oscar this weekend for his Exit Through the Gift Shop documentary and with mere days left until the little golden statues are handed out, a handful of new Banksy pieces have appeared in L.A. (Although it looks like he won’t make it to the actual ceremony since the Academy turned down his disguise request)
While we love museums and galleries, we also think introducing the kids to urban art makes for a great sunny day activity. Make a game plan and hit some key graffiti areas in your city, then retire to a coffee shop and have everyone share their favourite piece. You could also tape some butcher paper up on the wall and have the kids create a new mural. (You may want to remind them that unauthorized graffiti is not to be done in the house) Here are some places to check out:
10-year old Solveig is the new star of street art. She paints bright, playful graffiti murals in and around her native Brighton and has started an all-girl crew called, appropriately AGC (it’s made up of Solveig, her younger sister, two girls who live on her street and a new friend who just moved to the U.K. from China).
