Terrifying Easter Bunnies

There’s no way a grown man in a bunny suit isn’t terrifying, right?

We had fun finding creepy chocolate bunnies, but at least you could eat those. That most likely defeats the evil. But while we were looking for creepy edible bunnies, we came across these. And excuse us for our second Donnie Darko reference, but you just want to ask these guys, “Why are you wearing that stupid bunny suit?” Enjoy, or not. Maybe don’t show these to your kids.

Creme Egg Cupcakes, Glow-in-the-Dark Easter Egg Hunts and DIY Easter Bunnies: Krista’s Easter Activity To-Do List

Krista Rao blogs about crafty adventures with her kids

Easter cupcakes made with Cadbury Creme Eggs

A super busy schedule around here the last couple of weeks hasnʼt really left us with any substantial time for crafting. Never fear, I have found pockets of time in which to dream, plan and bookmark crafting ideas that I am interested in doing. I have put together an Easter craft roundup of some of my favourite ideas and tutorials. Hopefully we can get some of these done before Easter!

1. I can imagine Ava cuddled up reading with one of these, these or these adorable bunnies!

2. Check out these Birdʼs Nest Cookies– they look super easy and delicious.

3. Cadbury Creme Egg cupcakes! I have a sister who would just go crazy over these cupcakes from My Baking Addiction… hmm, but does she deserve them?

4. Silk tie dyed eggs, chalkboard eggs and cross-stitched eggs. Yup! All on my list!

News and Culture Five

News Round-Up April 25: School Lunches Around the World, Don’t Say Gay and Nightmare-Inducing Bunnies

What we’re reading today:

1. An anti-vaccine group has taken out a huge video ad in Times Square, claiming they have “the facts,” but pro-vaccine groups say that a giant ad like this could cost thousands of kids their lives. Salon’s Rahul Parikh says, “high-profile defenses of vaccines are still few and far between.” Do we need to hear what the anti-vaccinationists have to say, or are they causing, as one medical ethicist says, “nothing less than a scandal”?

2. One 10-year-old girl is sick of the boys who stereotype all girls as pink-loving, doll-toting, nail polish-wearing girlie girls. Here’s what she has to say to them.

3. Tennessee has passed a “Don’t Say Gay” bill that prohibits the discussion of anything non-hetero before grade nine. This sounds very healthy and accepting. We’re quite sure this won’t have any negative consequences for young teenagers either having to deal with their own non-hetero sexuality or being tolerant of others. It’s not like there’ve been any crises involving gay teens recently.

Easter Bunny Card Kit

Catherine Romano blogs about crafty projects for kids and parents

This is the first Easter we are spending with my son in Toronto. We are looking forward to a delicious family lunch and perhaps a visit from the Easter Bunny.

With the abundance of chocolate bunnies and cream-filled eggs that are going to be a part of the holiday celebration, I wanted to come up with an alternative gift-giving idea. I came up with these cute ‘Make-a-Card’ packages — a  great way to pass on a little artistic inspiration for creative kids. Take a look.

Materials:

  • Card Stock
  • Pom Poms
  • Tissue Paper
  • Plastic zip lock bag
  • Various Easter themed items

Process:
1. Prepare the materials for your package
a) Cut out pieces of tissue paper
b) Fold card stock in half (to make a card)
c) Select a handful of pom poms
d) Select Easter themed items
