What we’re reading today:

1. Parents! Use the same logic on family decisions as you would for business decisions. You want to make sure you’re getting a good ROI.

2. Commercial surrogacy in India is growing. Would you ever look overseas for a surrogate if you couldn’t have a baby yourself?

3. Heard about that 5-year-old black comedian Zay Zay? He jokes about how black parents yell too much and that they’ll threaten to pop him if doesn’t fix his face. Um… we can’t relate, but Slate writer Debra Dickerson can and it brought up some unpleasant memories. Why’s Zay Zay joking about it?

4. Don’t worry about raising a Mama’s Boy; it’s maybe at those exact moments where moms have been told to let their sons go that the sons need them the most.

Carly Stasko investigates the quandaries of new parents… and raps on playgrounds

I first came up with this “Mom Rap” during a 4am sleep-deprived freestyle session I performed for my husband and newborn son when none of us were getting any sleep.  I have since  performed it for friends, family and strangers every chance I get. It breaks the ice and tells a story.  I think that parenting is equal parts comedy and confidence.

We can’t take ourselves too seriously, but at the same time it’s important to recognize how brave and bad-ass parenting can be.

By which we mean wicked awesome, obviously

We know and love Jane Lynch for her awesomely dry humour, starring in Glee, Best in Show and Party Down (Please say you’ll appear in the Party Down movie!), not to mention stealing scenes in the 40-Year-Old Virgin, but did you know that she’s also a stepmother? Bunch sat down with Lynch at BlogHer last summer where she explained that while she and her wife’s daughter Hayden don’t actually share any DNA, they were undeniably cut from the same cloth.

So how do we think she’d be as a stepmom? Well, we think Sue Sylvester says it best:
