Catherine Romano blogs about crafty projects for kids and parents
Chinese New Year is a festive time in our family. My son is half Chinese (and half Italian) and we are planning a little Chinese New Year celebration. In addition to eating a traditional meal and attending festivities in the city, I plant to create a special gift for my son to mark the holiday. Take a look at my idea:
Items:
- Clementines (for a sweet life)
- Candies in brightly coloured wrappers (for a sweet life)
- Chocolate gold coins (for good fortune)
- Red Package Envelope (for good fortune)
- Chinese New Year children’s book (to tell him more about the traditions associated with the holiday)
- A red box to gather all the items
Tips:
- All of these items can be purchased in Chinatown (which makes for a fantastic weekend afternoon trip for the whole family)
