easter
For all the grand ladies and handsome fellas

We always knew spring was finally on its way with the annual trip to Laura Ashley when Grandma would buy this girl her annual Easter dress. Grandma being pretty set in her ways, she also insisted this girl have a pretty hat to wear with said dress. (Grandma was over the moon when that whole Blossom-hat craze happened in grade four.) But a hat that accompanies an Easter dress (something with a floral pattern and/or satin sash, often ruffled) is not merely a hat; rather it is an Easter bonnet.
Where to find an Easter Bonnet?
You can check the usual suspects – the giant department stores – since they’ll have the Easter dress clothes, or find a great boutique kids’ clothing store like Bean Sprout.

This is the first Easter we are spending with my son in Toronto. We are looking forward to a delicious family lunch and perhaps a visit from the Easter Bunny.
With the abundance of chocolate bunnies and cream-filled eggs that are going to be a part of the holiday celebration, I wanted to come up with an alternative gift-giving idea. I came up with these cute ‘Make-a-Card’ packages — a great way to pass on a little artistic inspiration for creative kids. Take a look.
Materials:
- Card Stock
- Pom Poms
- Tissue Paper
- Plastic zip lock bag
- Various Easter themed items

Process:
1. Prepare the materials for your package
a) Cut out pieces of tissue paper
b) Fold card stock in half (to make a card)
c) Select a handful of pom poms
d) Select Easter themed items Read more...

Now that we can finally embrace some spring-time fun in Toronto (thanks to a lovely warm weather weekend), our family has begun to plan a few outdoor activities. The first thing on the list is a day trip to the Toronto Zoo. My son is super excited to see “real life” animals – being a city kid he is only used to seeing a few birds, bugs, and little dogs.
In anticipation of our visit to the zoo, I thought it would be fun to make paper bag animal puppets. For inspiration, my son chose his three favourite animals from one of his colouring books (which also gave me a visual to work with), and then we gathered up our materials.
