On Black Friday, Will You Shop Till You Drop or Buy Nothing?

It’s one of the biggest shopping days of the year in the States! Out-of-this-world bargains, Black Friday Eve-camp-outs, shopper-on-shopper violence and oh-so-many maxed-out credit cards.

Considered by some to be the official kick-off to the holiday shopping season (never mind the fact that Christmas commercials have been airing since before Halloween), Black Friday is not a day for the casual mall-goer. According to the most reliable information source ever, the term “Black Friday” refers to the insane profits that retailers will experience at the end of the day (they are “in the black”), although it was coined by Philadelphia cops in the late 1960s to describe the insane and sometimes disruptive traffic, both pedestrian and vehicular.
