Kids Reenact Sabotage in Honour of Beastie Boys’ MCA

I can’t stand it, I know you planned it

OK, everybody should just go home right now because you’re not going to see anything better than this today. Beastie Boys fan and filmmaker James Winters put together this “Sabotage” video with his kids and nephews as a tribute to Adam Yauch, a.k.a. MCA.

The Beastie Boys for Kids: Essential Videos, Action Figures and Virgin Brass Monkeys

Introduce your kids to Ad-Rock, MCA and Mike D with the Beastie Boys for kids

It seems like the whole world is in mourning over the death of Adam Yauch, also known as MCA of the Beastie Boys. His loss affects everyone because for a good 30 years, the Beasties knew how to appeal to everyone without losing their unique punk rock-hip hop flavour. While people of all ages can, and should, rock out to the Beastie Boys, we think they’re especially well-suited to kids because of their fast, funny lyrics, their zany costumes and their amazingly creative music videos. Throwing on a Beastie Boys record is guaranteed to get your body movin’.

ESSENTIAL TUNES

Sure, you could probably throw on any Beasties tune from any album and find yourself with a gem, but here are a few we like:

1. “Sure Shot” from Ill Communication (1994)

My Favourite Bunchland Posts of 2010

Bunchland’s outgoing editor Amanda Factor shares her favourite posts from the past year

heart hands

Since Bunchland launched in January, the roster of talented writers blogging for us has grown. Our blogger pool is now made up of a diverse group of people, and I’m really proud of how far the site has come!

I was thrilled when Beth Blenz-Clucas agreed to blog about music for us. Beth runs Sugar Mountain PR, representing kindie music artists, so needless to say she was the perfect choice as our music blogger. Every Monday, Beth’s 2 Tunes 2 Ways posts appear on Bunchland, pairing a kids’ song with a grown-up song that all members of the family can enjoy. Her posts are fantastic and expose us to music we’ve never heard of before, and sometimes they remind us of songs from our childhood that we’d forgotten about.
