Catherine Romano blogs about crafty projects for kids and parents
My fondest craft making memory is beading. My sister and I would spend hours on our front porch making bracelets and necklaces, and often ‘sell’ them to our neighbourhood friends. Since I was the older sister, I would determine the bead colour and pattern for each item, then we would get to work, with only a break for lunch. By the end of summer, our wrists were layered with bracelets.
I thought I would re-visit beading, and on Tuesday morning, my son and I hopped on the streetcar and made our way to Queen West in Toronto (the textile and beading mecca of the city). Take a look at what we found and what I made.

Process:
1. Make your way to a craft or bead store. Note, that most shops have a sale section. I found all my items for 30% off.
2. Pick up your favourite beads, threading (or fishing wire), and clasps.
3. Get creative!
