Eden Hertzog is now a mom… and still hungry
Earlier this year I was interviewed on CBC Radio 1’s morning program, Fresh Air. It was myself and another baker, Regan Daley. We were asked what we thought the difference between being a chef and a baker is. Given that Cedar was only a few weeks old at the time, I think my answer was somewhat mushy-brained, but the question has stuck with me since and I think about it whenever I feel the urge to bake.
I had this urge the other day; it was raining really hard and I had that melancholy-nostalgic feeling floating around in me. The urge was to bake something for Cedar. It was so specific! I didn’t just want to make something, or eat something, or have something to do – no, I wanted to bake FOR my boy and then watch him eat it AND make him happy by doing so. That’s what baking is all about, in my humble opinion. It’s such a sweet act of love.
