Sticking Up For Our Kids Against Grocery Cart Woman Attacks

Meri Perra blogs about the challenges she and her partner face in trying to raise their girls with feminist values

The woman who organizes the shopping carts in the parking lot of our local grocery store probably has one of the least cushy jobs in the city.

Think about how pleasant it is to linger in a parking lot. Now imagine spending eight hours in one. Yet this woman manages to stay remarkably cheery, despite the extreme hot and cold weather  conditions and downtown car fumes of her work environment. Not to mention those snotty, over-thinking Torontonians she has to deal with. She makes constant small talk. She smiles. She stacks carts. Her attitude about life is, on the outside, impressive.

She seems to have a developmental disability, which I mention because it is relevant to the story.
