Send Letters Home From Camp With a DIY Stationary Kit

Catherine Romano blogs about crafty projects for kids and parents

With the start or summer, comes the beginning of summer camp, and some kids are about to embark on a special trip to overnight summer camp. As exciting as the experience can be, the occasion is often bittersweet – kids are growing up (and would rather spend most time with friends), and parents are no longer needed every single second of the day (what to do with all that extra time).

But one way to keep things lighthearted and mark the special excursion to sleepover camp, is with a letter writing kit. Filling a letter writing kit with fun and useful items will certainly encourage kids to put pen to paper, and take a moment to share fun experiences with parents.

Here is what I did for my letter writing kit:

1. Make a trip to the dollar store (or search through your craft materials box). Look for essential items like note paper, envelopes, pens.
2. Once all the essentials are collected, take some time to add a few fun extras to the kit. I found stickers, tiny clothespin clips, pretty pens, and a colourful case to hold all of the materials.
3.  Place all of the materials inside the case, add a sweet note, and place it inside your child’s camp knapsack.

Here’s to a fun filled summer camp experience for kids and parents! Oh, and be sure to include postage stamps or those letters will never make it home to your mailbox!
