Hi Precious,
Sounds so familiar! I went through this with my kids and my ex and ended up with 2 sets of rules: One for Mom's house, one for Dad's. They alternated weeks at each parents' house. Boy 9, girl 12. Their mother hated football and most sports on tv. I love football on tv. We ended up having to trust that the other parent loved the kids just as much and had their best interest at heart even if letting them watch crap. We watched crap together, at least. It made a lot more peaceable exchanges between my ex and I and the kids did appreciate that. The kids are now 30 and 33 and funny thing is neither one even has cable, and one doesn't have tv at all. They seem pretty happy.
Their Mom and I are better friends now than ever and can look back on those times and laugh, on a good day.
After-school basketball, track, and music lessons helped keep the video game/tv time in check too.
Thanks,
Guy
