They’re doing a new fake moustache everyday for Movember

Nici Shipway and her daughter Amelie have signed up for Movember, despite their inability to grow their own ‘staches. Instead, they’re posting a new picture every day this month with a faux-mo. They’re also our Mini Movember ambassadors.

Why did you two sign up for Movember?

A few months ago, we were sitting around and I asked Amelie what she wanted to do. She said “Do you want to draw moustaches on eachother?” and I realized that she was into moustaches. I think moustaches are a lot of fun so this is a great way to bring awareness and raise some money for men’s health. It’s just a fun thing to do together, especially now when she’s young and has no problem having her picture taken with a fake moustache.

Do you have a personal connection as far as the need to raise awareness for men’s cancers?

My husband’s best friend is currently in the investigative stages of something and they’re trying to figure out what’s going on. And with Jack Layton’s passing this year, we want to bring more awareness to prostate cancer and other men’s health issues. Everyday when I post a moustache picture, I add a health fact.

What’s Amelie’s favourite moustache?

She really likes the big curly handlebar ones, and when I’m painting one on her, she’s likes them to be purple.

If you could have any celebrity’s moustache, whose would it be? How about Amelie?

Definitely Sean Connery for me. As for Amelie, a nice full one like Super Mario’s.

Why should others get involved with Mini Movember?

I grew up in a big fundraising family and there are other ways to raise money and awareness for causes, but this is one of the most fun. There’s physical evidence of Movember all over the place and when you visit the website, it just seems like a really good community –there are constant updates with money raised and moustache progress. It’s just fun to involve your kids with stuff you believe in and we like showing that not only guys can participate. We’re under Mo Sistahs.
