Long Winter Starts Tonight!
Long Winter: Year Two – Volume One Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. (PWYC)
venue: The Great Hall, 1087 Queen St. W. (at Dovercourt) in Toronto
Got a hankering for Grown-up Time — or better yet, Grown-Up Time you can bring kids along to?
Tonight is the first event of this year’s Long Winter series of monthly events, created by Toronto hardcore rockers Fucked Up. If you haven’t been to a Long Winter, it’s a mash-up of goodness featuring music, art installations, dance, readings, food — anything fun to make our looong winters feel shorter.
Just check out what’s up tonight: King Cobb Steelie, Bidiniband, Ell V Gore, Ketamines, Doom Squad, Lido Pimienta, Esther Grey, Cellphone & Wake Island. Performances by Henri Faberge’s Fountain of Mouth and Basil AlZeri, video by Andrew Stewart, dance by Ben Kamino, Guillaume Morissette and — one of the great things this event is known for — delicious food by Emily Zimmerman.
There’s also the Long Winter Arcade curated by Dames Making Games.
And some exciting news: Dec. 28 – save the date
On Dec. 28 there will be an entirely family-friendly Long Winter! Picture a whole lot of musical performances, puppets, food, a special area for babies and toddlers and much more.
Like all other Long Winter events it’s Pay-What-You-Can. Stayed tuned to Bunch for more info — and save that date!
