Of the many reasons to love author Neil Gaiman (Coraline, Good Omens, American Gods) Chu’s Day might go down as the best. I predict that Mr. Gaiman will be remembered long after he’s gone for having written this wonderful story of a dangerous little panda bear with a very sensitive nose.

It turns out that Mr. Gaiman agrees with me:

The illustrations by Adam Rex are beautiful and saturated with colour. The universe of Chu is rich with a multicultural animal society and retro everything. I haven’t met a toddler yet who doesn’t respond to it with enthusiasm.

I can’t recommend it enough. It has become part of our collection of favorites, along with Where the Wild Things Are, Goodnight Moon and Hand Hand Fingers Thumb.
