While we could just tell you to have your kid’s birthday party at the Art Gallery of Ontario because it’s superfun, we figured we’d get a little more specific. Here are our top five reasons why you should book a party at the AGO:
1. It’s cold out there. Any hope of an outdoor extravaganza have officially been kyboshed by Old Man Winter. Set your kids’ imaginations loose in the most active and exciting indoor venue possible. Think fierce crafts, seriously fun games and plenty of exposure to some of the world’s most influential art.
2. They make for lasting friendships. Creative projects provide the best platform for teamwork, and the relationships formed around the craft table are often the most enduring, productive and happy. Read more...
The AGO is one of Toronto’s most unique cultural spaces, housing a collection of art and artifacts spanning from 100 A.D. to the present. This makes it an unbeatable destination for an imaginative and fun-to-the max birthday party, one your kid will not soon forget. What could be better than partying among the ghostly masterpieces of the Maharajah, the glittering tombs of King Tut, and the hi-tech installations of today’s leading artistic minds? Doing it all for free, that’s what!
Since we believe that the best birthday parties should incorporate some creative opportunities as well as a few surprises, we’re extending the chance to win an epic birthday celebration at the AGO!
Hey Ontario Bunchlanders! Remember to get out to vote tomorrow! And when you’re at your local polling station, our friends at the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario are asking you to think about which party best serves your kids and our education system.
The brand new Weston Family Learning Center is now open at the AGO!
A hub for creative family fun, the new space includes: The Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On center for Kids and Parents — This room really steals the show, complete with funky costumes and hats, oversized stuffed creatures and blocks, and a cubby wall full of trinkets. The space will be open Tuesday – Sunday, 10 – 2 PM.
A Community Gallery — A project space that aims to provide a platform for experimentation. It is currently showing “A Place Called Lovely” by Sadie Benning, co-founder of Le Tigre. The multimedia exhibit features video clips she filmed on a Fisher Price video camera when she was 18, and juxtaposes images from yearbooks, tabloids, and movies including Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho.
